Architecture

Bear Lake Reserve is situated in an ecologically significant region of the eastern United States, characterized by major expanses of healthy forests, diverse ecological communities, high-level wildlife habitat and unique environmental features.  The pristine beauty of Bear Creek Lake, the tributary streams flowing into the lake and the surrounding forested slopes, valleys and ridges enhance the community’s position as a premier mountain destination. Our architectural guidelines recognize the vital role that the natural environment plays in defining the community by establishing  strategies designed to integrate the community with its environment.

Acceptable development will include architectural designs that blend, rather than contrast, with the environment, minimize and properly manage surface-water runoff and include landscaping that preserves existing vegetation and uses native plant material rather than non-indigenous plants. When you are planning to build at Bear Lake Reserve, you can be assured we have constructed our guidelines to match our landscaping philosophy. Every vertical building is meant to balance with outdoor environment in a complimentary style. It is reassuring to know our second-home community has a wide variety of architectural configurations that offer accommodating designs without cookie-cutter duplication.
