Last week to purchase tickets to the 5th annual Taste of Sylva, held next Saturday, October 4, and Harris Regional Hospital Chef to participate
An afternoon culinary experience is coming to downtown Sylva on Saturday, October 4, featuring local food, live street music, kids’ activities and more! The Mainstreet Sylva Association will host the fifth annual Taste of Sylva culinary tour from 1-5 p.m. at downtown restaurants and in the pavilion at McGuire Gardens, located at 553 West Main Street.
Get your tickets this week at eighteen local restaurants/participants who will be providing a “taste” of menu items to patrons who get to experience almost all the culinary variety Sylva has to offer in a single afternoon. The event also features live music and, new this year, a youth art competition called “The Art of Healthy Eating,” which is open to all youth in Jackson County ages 3-18.
Enjoy tunes from Ian Moore, Alma Russ, Ashley Winters, Nathan Folse and more as you stroll through the streets of downtown Sylva this Saturday afternoon.
Artwork entered by 100 youth participants will be displayed in participating businesses in downtown Sylva on Friday, October 3rd from 5-7 PM. A special Youth Artist Ticket will be given to these kids when they locate their art that evening. This ticket will allow youth to participate in six events at The Taste of Sylva for free, including samples from various restaurants, bike safety checks, and giveaways. For questions regarding this contest this weekend, contact Melissa McKnight at the Jackson County Department of Public Health at firstname.lastname@example.org.
A limited amount of tickets for the Taste of Sylva are on sale now at participating restaurants and online at www.mainstreetsylva,org, and are $20 in advance if purchased before Friday, October 3, or $25 at the door. Downtown restaurants participating at their own locations include City Lights Cafe, Cosmic Carryout, Eric’s Fresh Fish Market, Guadalupe Cafe, Heinzelmannchen Brewery, Innovation Brewery, Lulu’s on Main, Mad Batter Food and Film, Papou’s Wine Shop, Perk and Pastry Bistro, Remedy, and Signature Brew.
